I love you when I see you wailing,

and tears drip from your eyes.

And I love the breaking of the strings of a voice

that sorrow sends rising from your lips.

I love torment and I love weeping,

and I adore the cup of anguish in your hands.

And I believe that drinking one's fill of tears—

tears of consolation from your eyes—

is indeed better than love's kisses,

which the mouth drinks from your cheeks.
