أحبّكِ فَوق ما تسعُ القلوبُ

وَخيَّل شاعِرٌ وَوَعى حَبيبُ

I love you beyond what hearts can contain

And a poet imagined and a lover comprehended

لَأَنتِ مِنَ السَماءِ سَحابُ عِطرٍ

يَسحُّ عَليَّ مِنكِ نَدىً عَجيبُ

You are a fragrant cloud from the sky

That showers amazingly sweet dew on me

أُحسُّكِ بي فَعِرقُكِ صارَ عِرقي

وَما لِقَذىً بعرقينا دَبيبُ

I feel you in me so your sweat became my sweat

What business does a speck have with our two sweats

فَنَحنُ إِذا اِلتَقى صدرٌ وَصَدرٌ

لَنا فَكَما اِلتَقى كوبٌ وَكوبُ

So when two chests meet

We are like two cups coming together

وَإِن مُزِجَت بِنا خَمرٌ وَخَمرٌ

تَمازَجَ في النَدى نَسَمٌ وَطيبُ

And if wine is mixed with more wine

A breeze mingles with a fragrance

أَرى أَدَبي بِعَينِكِ حينَ يَهوي

عَلى فَمِكِ الأَديبِ فَمي الأَديبُ

I see my manners in your eyes when it swoops

On your elegant mouth, my elegant mouth

بِنا نارٌ وَلَيسَ بِنا هَشيمٌ

وَعاصِفَةٌ وَلَيسَ لَنا هبوبُ

In us there is fire and no firewood

And a storm but no blowing for us
