At that he sat up with a start and made ready
to commune with his chaste love.

He said, “Listen to me: I am dying;
for strength will never again return to me.

I walk swiftly toward the tomb,
for my torment rages in my lungs.

On the banks of the happy Nile there are waters;
so ask them tomorrow for water, pure and sweet.

your sweet Nile is not my Bardawni.
