I recognized nobility in you, my poet.

Will your brothers, then, recognize you?

You strove with a steadfast hero's effort.

Will those who love you, then, support you?

You wrote in tears the hymn of brotherhood,

and in pure blood what was inscribed.

    وَإِن أَجابوكَ أَجابوا العلى

    For if they betray you, they betray proud dignity;

and if they answer you, they answer the sublime.

You are the scion of truth, the sprout of honor.

In your beating heart is the heart of the land.

How many in my homeland were fashioned from earthenware,

which [unclear word] shatters—and how many hearts!

O blade, sheathed for a long age,

it is a disgrace for the nation to sheath you.

Come forth, for the hour of clashing steel has come,

and sincerity ought to stand by you.
