Yesterday you were the goddess of lovers,
Yesterday you were the goddess of all lovers,
intoxicating the throng, yet never drunk yourself.
Intoxicating kings, yet sober to us.

And indeed, you used to smile with good fortune;
Once you smiled with such fortune,
why, then, have you ceased to smile?
So why have you become cheerless?

The symbol of beauty has become a sad one?

Sorrow has darkened the light in your eyes,
that yesterday enchanted those who gazed.
Which yesterday allure the beholders.

Are not these eyebrows symbols
that have remained a secret buried in the heart?
That have remained secrets buried deep inside?

You were not used to any gait but coquetry,
with which you used to deceive even love.
Even passion you deceived with it.

Lighten your walk, for in the dust lies a heart
Lighten your steps - in the sand lies a heart
that returned to clay today, after your sin.
That came back today, clay after your sin.

Do not wail for love - walk over it.
Love's covenant is nothing but madness.
Passion is nothing but madness.

Do not wail if conscience one day
it one day utters the words of the compassionate:
Speaks the words of the compassionate.

You have disgraced life after Ali,
so be ashamed today; do not dishonor death.
So be shy today - do not disgrace death.

If immorality is from Ali, your immorality
debauchery and injustice—how vile is what you do!
Is far worse that you are doing.

With shackles more deserving for the murderer.

How can you still wear it and not be ashamed?

Do not heed a voice, O Marguerite;
Do not wail, Margaret, for a voice
the voice of conscience is nothing but wanton jesting.
That is nothing but the voice of conscience.

That embraces a heart and eyes of a lover.

[Unclear word]—sacrifice conscience in every circumstance,
In every case, sacrifice conscience,
and bid bloodshed come to pass among mankind.
And consider shedding blood in people as trivial.
