With summer, the earth's youth has returned to her.

So she is like a maiden whose charms are complete.

Images of greenery, radiant with freshness,

No one has seen them without longing for them.

The sun's gold lies upon her horizons,

And night's blackness is musk in her soil.

And the dawn breeze among her trees—

Whispers whose echo delights the river.

    ضِحكَتُها شَدوٌ وَتَهليلٌ بُكاها

    And the rills are dancing enchantments;

Their laughter is song; their weeping, jubilation.

And the daisies are captivating images,

And the birds' songs are poetry beyond compare.

Indeed, she is paradise; so marvel at a man

Who is in her, yet so rarely sees her.

O you who turn away from her flowers,

Their fragrance is yours, if only you knew, O you there!

O you who sleep, heedless of her stars,

God created their radiance for your eyes.

O you who hold back from her pleasures

Your soul—alas, you will never be given another.

Do not put off till tomorrow; tomorrow is nothing

But a day like the one that was lost and went astray.

And if the soul does not see its hopes

At midmorning, how can it see them in its evening?

This is paradise; so roam her hills,

And behold the magic in flowers and waters.

And listen to poetry from her nightingale,

For it is poetry that cannot be matched.

How very sweet summer is, how generous it is!

It filled the world with abundance and ease.

When it restored youth to the earth,

It restored my dreams, which time had folded away.

    فَشَفى آلامَ نَفسي وَشَفاها

    I used to complain of languor, just as she did;

So it healed my soul's pains, and healed her.
