Peace be upon you, men of fidelity,

And a thousand greetings to the faithful women.

And oh, the heart's joy in the young!

For in them lies the beauty of life.

They are the blossoms on earth when there are no flowers,

And bright stars when the stars lie hidden.

If I exalt the stature of youth,

It is because youth is the father of miracles:

The country's fortresses and its walls,

When its guards and defenders sleep.

    فَيا أَمسُ فاخِر بِما هُوَ آت

    Tomorrow is theirs, and tomorrow is within them;

So, O yesterday, take pride in what is to come!

And how wonderful are the mothers who

Give birth to men and women of genius!

For many a nation has gained immortality through a reed pen,

And many a nation has arisen in an inkwell!

I am a poet, forever yearning

For beauty in people and all beings.

I love flowers and delight in birds,

And adore the babbling of water channels,

And the dance of rays above the hills,

And the laughter of streams and their peals of laughter.

My eyes behold in this place

    Captivating, spellbinding wonders.

As though the sky, with birds within it,

    Were seas with ships afloat.

As though the flowers, in which glisten

    Dewdrops, were weeping eyes.

And from a warbling nightingale to a singer,

And from a tender flower to a maiden.

How beautiful summer is in secluded retreats,

And how splendid its manifest wonders!

It stripped the veils from the beauties of existence,

And they had been like its hidden secrets.

And it revived our withered longings,

So they lived, though they had been like lifeless earth.

For there is magic on earth, and fragrance in the air.

So hail the generous one, and hail the gifts!

    أَلا فَاِغنَموا العَيشَ قَبلَ الفَوات

    Before you lies a free and abundant life;

Come, then, seize life before it is too late!
