ماnot زِلتُI ceased أَحسَبُI think أَنَّthat الحُبَّlove زايَلَنيleft me
حَتّىuntil نَظَرتُI looked إِلَيهاat her وَهيَwhile she تَبتَسِمُsmiles
I kept thinking that love had left me
I thought that love had left me
I continued to believe that love had abandoned me,
Until I looked at her as she smiled.
Until I saw her smile
Until I gazed upon her while she was smiling.
فَاِهتَزَّthen it quivered قَلبيmy heart كَماjust as تَهتَزُّquivers نابِتَةٌa plant
فيin القَفرِthe wilderness مَرَّpassed عَلَيهاover it النورُthe light وَالنَسَمُand breezes
Then my heart quivered as a plant quivers
My heart shook like a sprout
Then my heart quivered as a young plant quivers
In the wilderness, over which light and breezes have passed.
In the desert when the light and breeze pass by
In the wasteland, when touched by light and the breeze.
ياO حُبَّهاlove for her لاdo not تَخَفfear شَيباًgray hair وَلاand not هَرَماًold age
فَلَيسَfor … not يَقوىcan prevail عَلَيكَover you الشَيبُgray hair وَالهَرَمُand old age
O love for her, fear neither gray hair nor old age,
Oh love for her, do not fear old age or decrepitude
O love for her, fear neither gray hair nor old age,
For gray hair and old age cannot prevail over you.
For neither old age nor decrepitude can overcome you
For gray hair and old age have no power over you.
