I do not like the human who bows to injustice
I hold no love for the one who succumbs to illusion,
And is content with trivial desires
And is content with the most trivial of hopes.
Indeed alive, he fears to touch the light
For the living soul who fears to touch the light,
Like a dead man in the darkness of shrouds
Is like the dead within the darkness of shrouds.
And a life whose prudence has been prolonged
And a life extended by nothing but caution,
Is not equal in glory to a few moments
Is not worth, in glory, a mere few seconds.
The brave one to me is he who sings
The brave one, in my eyes, is he who,
While tears are in the eyelids
Sings on, while tears tremble in his eyelids.
