بَنَيتُ فُردَوسي وَزَخرَفتُهُ

بَنَيتُ فُردَوسي وَزَخرَفتُهُ

حَتّى إِذا ما تَمَّ ضَيَّعتُهُ

حَتّى إِذا ما تَمَّ ضَيَّعتُهُ

I built my paradise and adorned it;

I built my paradise and adorned it,

Until, when it was complete, I squandered it.

Until, when it was complete, I let it go to waste.

أَجرَيتُ في أَنهارِهِ كَوثَراً

أَجرَيتُ في أَنهارِهِ كَوثَراً

فَذاقَهُ الناس وَما ذُقتُهُ

فَذاقَهُ الناس وَما ذُقتُهُ

I made Kawthar flow through its rivers;

I made the waters of Kawthar flow in its streams,

So the people tasted it, but I did not taste it.

So the people tasted it, while I tasted it not.
