1. The fortunate kings enjoy days and fortunes
With none to blame save the innocent and gentle

2. And the noblest of men is preoccupied with his aspirations
A canon thrust between the folds of a faded robe

3. His pride surpasses the staves of heroes
A bare sword assigned to the hills

4. I continued to probe my matter regarding its consequences
Until I saw the garments of glory donned

5. And in expatriation, there is no gain save from you
And the means of sustenance between the villages and camels

6. Were it not for the generous, the malady of estrangement
From homelands would have befallen all people

7. We hope, although the hopes of some people are frustrated
Your tears, o grieving one, have been shed over the ruins

8. How oblivious was I to worldly matters until
My aspirations started passing me by

9. Among some youth who mounted their beds and tossed
Humility behind the backs of horses and camels

10. When their supplies ran out, I bought them
From the stomachs of delicate camels

11. Alas! With his dashing, the knight of knights
And audacity towards the hero, has captivated the world

12. He protected the gazelles, pleased with his opinion, and saw
The consequences between anxiety and renewal

13. Pressed on despite adversities, daring in the face of fate
With the rashness of his youth against death

14. Congratulations, o king of kings, on a position
That restored upon you the brilliance of early eras

15. The Lord of Majesty called you, adorning His religion
A faith within which you are the greatest of denominations

16. You stormed Baghdad while the days were unaware
Like a torrent, too proud to come gently

17. With every shining morn known for its rise
When the night of great events is confusing

18. O leader of the cavalry, if the sword is a mouth
Then your spear yearns for kisses

19. And how often you have afflicted peers in a night
When eyes betray with blinking

20. And the arrogant, their hearts continued to waver
Between composure and haste

21. Until you took their souls by their forelocks
Not having wronged with flashes of lightning

22. They saw your position, so their eyes dazzled
Not every glance reaches the depths

23. By Allah, the blossom of a kingdom arose with envious weeds
Unaware that the sun is in Aries

24. Do not regret the past
For the last of honey with us is the sweetest

25. And do not care for any act you intend
Even if you are blamed amid excuses and guilt

26. Do not proceed with something you will be criticized for
Rarely do days realize lapses

27. By Allah, what a young man whose softness
Became agreeable at the hands of the staff and roads

28. Love does not desire the soundest opinion
If the youth rejects wisdom through amorousness

29. He saw you as the noblest of those praised
And the best one parcelled by the hand of hope

30. Inclining towards no one, not deviant
For balance in dispute preoccupies

31. Good cannot be restored in a sovereign’s realm
Unless reconciling words and deeds

32. So I struggle to articulate praise that you hear
And the lover of glory is not approached by boredom

33. What excuse for one like me, despite my shortcoming and folly
I am the content one, my grandfather is the seal of prophets

34. This is my father, the one I hope for success through
I call upon him from you, relaxed and renewed

35. Were it not for you, contentment in life would not have overcome him
Nor would the eyes of horses and foals settled

36. You brought him down from the towering peaks
Upon which ages had not congratulated

37. Stout heights with trailing hindquarters you would think them
Agile ordinary camels pruned of height

38. Their tails waving high in the air
Enveloped by lightning amid mounts and hills

39. While you adorned him with grace, collectively
Ranked like jewelry and gowns over him

40. You broadened, so he saw hopes expansive
And every cramped resident has ample hope

41. You pulled his mannerism away from the flirtations of death
While he glanced upon life apprehensively

42. He was naught but a cloaked sword
Then extracted abruptly by the other hand

43. So hurl him at the jaws of horrors, baring
And seek aid of the lion when the despicable are foxes

44. And do not obey the word of his envier regarding him
For the ailing blame people for illnesses

45. Bestowing honor is worthier from one whose praise
Extols amid generosity and stinginess

46. Seeing him explains his narrative
What use is bashfulness amid blushing cheeks?

47. He assumed the high and noble lineage while many were
Covered by the gowns of nakedness and rags

48. His abode shifted from the oblong encampment
To plush meadows and solid, unmoving shade

49. We anticipate you while days are defiant
And the garden anticipates the shower of dripping rain

50. With your rule, time decays yet remains vigilant
Against not conferring upon us the most blessed of eras
