1. They boast to us of one not born of them
Of Taim when counted as the foremost noble steed

2. Yet forget the one had they but led forth
Would have excused a noble horse among noble breeds

3. A Hashimite youth after the Prophet who sold it
For the cause of lofty Ulya or glory and praise repeated

4. And but for Ali they'd not have overtopped its pinnacle
Nor therefrom provided pasture and fresh water renewed

5. We hold against them by the Prophet and Fatima
The prospects of endeavor from abode and seat

6. And seek through the two grandsons of Ahmad and his successor
The necks of mankind from suspects and champion unique

7. And antique sorrow it is the utmost pride of you
The birth of the daughter of Al-Qasim son of Muhammad

8. So grandsire a Prophet then grandsire a successor
What then beyond our two grandsires Ali and Ahmad

9. And none but through him has it boasted after the Prophet
A hand that clapped on the day of sale upon hand
