1. I recalled, in her absence from my reach,

3. The camels taught by Afa to bind and untie,
So it would halt at plains and resume the journey.

4. The square-shaped camels complain with wounds
From the black lions of the sandy plains.

5. Their smiles are like necklaces of pearls
And their valor exceeds all others.

6. The sadness receded and the days of love returned,
But the longing remains after the union comes to an end.

7. Passion lies between the tracker of a dear’s footsteps
And the straight posture of a doe’s neck.

8. The miser’s generosity is nothing but trouble,
Other than easing his debts and loans.

9. And he continues to increase the debts of passion,
And disappoints us from getting even a little.

10. Until we settled for the false hopes,
After determination, beyond imagination's imagination.

11. My misery away from you decreased
Like the short shadows of the afternoon sun.

12. And I changed from what pleases the senses
To a scene that startles the highest peaks.

13. A darkness that hastens the false dawn,
The rising of a black lion over hyenas.

14. And over my head passed clouds
That stay briefly and disappear quickly.

15. The youth today are no longer my friends,
Nor are those worries, O the most precious of my worries!

16. I swore by them my lasting madness
Seeking refuge, as they do, in the ruins.

17. Hiding like criminals,
Tied up in chains and shackles.

18. They toy with my cheeks when I try to pull them close,
As if the bridle is in place of the halter.

19. They are pierced by spears until
They exceed the thick and thin arrows.

20. God has sent us a savior of mankind,
Who helps the weak and guides the lost.

21. A carrier of burdens, rising with them
When the camels kneel down under the loads.

22. A knight whose hands excel
In building the highest glories.

23. If you hold onto him in hardships,
You will be pushed by waves of supreme power.

24. Today we recognize you, O Father,
Like the stallion recognized by his powerful gallop.

25. You are the rain that came to us,
Leaving behind a drink of pure water.

26. If you follow him in this majesty,
You precede him in perfection.

27. Had it not been for shyness, you would have stayed by him,
Though the last predecessor may lead the first.

28. Living in a neighborhood of a horseman
Whose shoes and slippers are lined up.

29. They refused to abandon lighting the villages,
Even if they lit it with tree branches.

30. They guide guests to their homes
With good reputation or perfume of musk.

31. The days and nights resembled each other
With glowing embers and rising dust.

32. Indeed, the grandfather gored his enemies
With an obstinate head and tall neck.

33. They have pages as white as tin
Adorned with the essence of glory.

34. And hands that bestow generously together
With protected glory and humiliated wealth.

35. When they pride, they shake the arrogant
Breaking the noses of domes and necks of palms.

36. And they come from a lineage of Dailami
That established peaks over mountain ranges.

37. I say to one who follows their path
Seeking glory beyond reach:

38. Beware, for the two stupid ones have
An observer of folly waiting in ambush.

39. He has a tuft like the grindstone
Spinning over a sticky neck.

40. He kneels with the posture of a coward
And sits with the posture of a singing cricket.

41. His arm and the milk
Remain on islands of men’s flesh.

42. When the hidden provisions are enough,
He does not store food for the family.

43. Did not the evil of his clouds exhaust you
With a downpour of cold and quarrel?

44. And prevent you from entering the dovecote
With the writhing of an old worm?

45. The horses’ fodder as if it is
Entangled in the long spearheads.

46. They are shod on the day of battle
With iron in the open wilderness.

47. The zebras surpassed them, carrying them
With bodies ready for fighting.

48. Upon them, every son of a critic
Who wields a spear or swings a sword.

49. If one becomes weary, he braces himself
And drags the hanging iron chains.

50. They gush with persistence like an auctioneer
Then set out like isolated fortresses.

51. When the battlefield tries them,
It leaves them as lions without rings.

52. You see every prominent one
With injured ribs and high neck,

53. His weapon missing him and the spear
In the hand of the tall athlete.

54. As if the prey climbs into shade
Stretching high above the mountains.

55. Reaching the distance before the spear is thrown
While the rider’s whip does not waver.

56. When the veins of zeal move him
Between civilization and sluggishness,

57. He goes leaping over the hills
And shortening the distances like waves.

58. You have extended my deficient arms
And joined my broken parts.

59. And you have elevated me beyond hopes
To far and beyond the reach of nights.

60. You have freed me from my confined space
And provided my pillar with polish.

61. You have shod my feet with a pair
Of glory without any blemish.

62. May God make your state lasting
When He makes other states decline.

63. And may He pull you into the highest sphere
As He pulls the suns into majesty.

64. You have flowed through time like pouring rain
Mending cracks and erecting buildings.

65. An era of glory like the reign of youth
With ripe fruits or days of union.

66. Its nights are the mornings of bliss
And its days are calm nights.
