1. He left the world for those who seek it,
Content with less, living frugally.

2. Turning away, he sees it no more,
Nor consoles himself with hopes forever.

3. After attaining lofty heights, ever
Climbing higher seeking more,

4. He shook off from his hands ambitions,
And sought guidance from the One God.

5. Seeing no salvation in it for him,
He went seeking salvation tomorrow.
