نطق اللسان عن الضمير

1. The tongue spoke from the conscience,
And people are signs of the good tidings.

١. نَطَقَ اللِسانُ عَنِ الضَميرِ
وَالبِشرُ عُنوانُ البَشيرِ

2. Now you have relieved the hearts,
From anxiety and alienation.

٢. الأَنَ أَعفَيتَ القُلو
بَ مِنَ التَقَلقُلِ وَالنُفورِ

3. The dark nights have given birth to,
The dawn of the bright morning.

٣. وَاِنجابَتِ الظُلماءُ عَن
وَضَحِ الصَباحِ المُستَنيرِ

4. No gloomy day remained long,
Except it rested in declination.

٤. ما طالَ يَومُ مُلَثَّمٍ
إِلّا اِستَراحَ إِلى السُفورِ

5. News clung to destinies,
From the mouth of the fateful king.

٥. خَبَرٌ تَشَبَّثَ بِالمَسا
مِعِ عَن فَمِ المَلِكِ الخَطيرِ

6. And it humiliated the necks of enemies,
The humiliation of the led camel.

٦. وَأَذَلَّ أَعناقَ العِدى
ذُلَّ المَطِيَّةِ لِلجَريرِ

7. It is elevated by the words of the orator,
And the hand of the gesture elongates.

٧. يَسمو بِهِ قَولُ الخَطي
بِ وَتَستَطيلُ يَدُ المُشيرِ

8. And the consciences of enemies
Cast with yearning unto sighing.

٨. وَضَمائِرُ الأَعداءِ تَق
ذِفُ بِالحَنينِ عَلى الزَفيرِ

9. And the foremost outbursts
Roll in conversations and slain.

٩. وَسَوابِقُ العَبَراتِ تَر
كُضُ في السَوالِفِ وَالنُحورِ

10. Your conscience redeems itself during hardships,
Unlike the flabby conscience.

١٠. تَفدي ضَميرَكَ في النَوا
ئِبِ غَيرَ فَضفاضِ الضَميرِ

11. Perplexed during hardships and doubtful about matters,
Some are intent on His blessings and some radiate with coquetry.

١١. مُتَحَيِّرٌ عِندَ النَوا
ئِبِ مُستَريبٌ بِالأُمورِ

12. Deceived by the world while your love,
Is not seduced by vanity.

١٢. غَرِضٌ بِنِعمَتِهِ وَبَع
ضُ القَومِ يَشرَقُ بِالنَميرِ

13. The one smeared with blood is equated,
To the one dressed in perfume.

١٣. يَغتَرُّ بِالدُنيا وَحَب
لُكَ لا يُدَلّى بِالغُرورِ

14. You are unlike the train that,
The hottest coals pass through it.

١٤. حَسِبَ المُضَمَّخَ بِالدِما
ءِ كَمَن تَغَلَّفَ بِالعَبيرِ

15. You were the breeze that blew upon it,
So it diminished from the heat of embers.

١٥. وَلَأَنتَ مِثلُ القُرُّ يَع
صِفُ مِنهُ بِالشِعرى العَبورِ

16. Hasty laden with the love of life,
On a miserable back.

١٦. كُنتَ النَسيمَ جَرى عَلَي
هِ فَغَضَّ مِن نارِ الحَرورِ

17. Transgressing without cause,
Such is the nature of the disobedient dog.

١٧. عَجلانَ يَحمِلُ مَغرَمَ ال
دُنيا عَلى ظَهرٍ حَسيرِ

18. You are crowned with virtues,
During the closure of breaches.

١٨. يَسطو بِلا سَبَبٍ وَتِل
كَ طَبيعَةُ الكَلبِ العَقورِ

19. In the company of the white desert,
Or between residences and palaces.

١٩. أَنتَ المُكَلَّلُ بِالمَنا
قِبِ عِندَ إيماضِ الثُغورِ

20. You have changed the colors of spearheads,
And the elegance of the white stallions.

٢٠. في رِفقَةِ البَيداءِ أَو
بَينَ المَنازِلِ وَالقُصورِ

21. And you have turned away the grazing gazelles,
Prancing in abundant underwood.

٢١. غَيَّرتَ أَلوانَ الرَما
حِ وَرَونَقَ البيضِ الذُكورِ

22. With she-camels like ostriches,
And youths like hawks.

٢٢. وَرَدَدتَ أَعطافَ الظُبى
تَختالُ في العَلَقِ الغَزيرِ

23. And a family from Hashim,
Who betrayed the chaste ladies.

٢٣. بِضَوامِرٍ مِثلِ النُسو
رِ وَغِلمَةٍ مِثلِ الصُقورِ

24. Brown sheep and white-bellied mares,
Not curls or forelocks.

٢٤. وَبِأُسرَةٍ مِن هاشِمٍ
غَدَروا بِرَبّاتِ الخُدورِ

25. Seeking help against remoteness,
And helping during attendance.

٢٥. سُمرِ التَرائِبِ وَالطُلى
بيضِ العَوارِضِ لا الشُعورِ

26. Preventing harm,
And saving from times.

٢٦. مُستَنجِدونَ عَلى البِعا
دِ وَمُنجِدونَ عَلى الحُضورِ

27. For them is speech, and indeed,
The lion has the roars of might.

٢٧. المانِعونَ مِنَ الأَذى
وَالمُنقِذونَ مِنَ الدُهورِ

28. The growling is different even if,
The arrows are from the same quiver.

٢٨. لَهُمُ الكَلامُ وَإِنَّما
لِلأُسدِ صَولاتُ الزَئيرِ

29. Among people there is no pure one,
And the free man has no peer.

٢٩. النَجرُ مُختَلِفٌ وَإِن
كانَ النِبالُ مِنَ الجَفيرِ

30. The progeny corrupted some of it,
Not every water is for purification.

٣٠. في الناسِ غَيرُ مُطَهَّرٍ
وَالحُرُّ مَعدومُ النَظيرِ

31. For you without the honor of men,
Is the zeal of the jealous man.

٣١. وَالنَسلُ يَخبُثُ بَعضُهُ
ما كُلُّ ماءٍ لِلطَهورِ

32. And for the water of your palm during famines,
Is the fertility of the rainy year.

٣٢. لَكَ دونَ أَعراضِ الرِجا
لِ حَميَّةُ الرَجُلِ الغَيورِ

33. What is between the blessing of a seeker among us,
And the supplication of one seeking refuge.

٣٣. وَلِماءِ كَفِّكَ في المُحو
لِ طَلاقَةُ العامِ المَطيرِ

34. Honor is from the entourage of wealth,
And humiliation more befitting of the poor.

٣٤. ما بَينَ نِعمَةِ طالِبٍ
فينا وَدَعوَةِ مُستَجيرِ

35. And sometimes the wealthy are granted,
The Lord of the staff and the camel.

٣٥. العِزُّ مِن شِيَعِ الغِنى
وَالذُلُّ أَولى بِالفَقيرِ

36. Misfortunes blew your haters,
From an emir or minister.

٣٦. وَلَرُبَّما رُزِقَ الغِنى
رَبُّ الشُوَيهَةِ وَالبَعيرِ

37. When he wanted to take you away,
He became of the gifts of graves.

٣٧. عَصَفَت بِمُبغِضِكَ النَوا
ئِبُ مِن أَميرٍ أَو وَزيرِ

38. The hand of fate pulled him,
Into the abode of vipers.

٣٨. لَمّا أَرادَ بِكَ المَنِي
يَةَ صارَ مِن تُحَفِ القُبورِ

39. And days clarified him,
In the shade of bliss unto departure.

٣٩. جَذَبَتهُ في شَطَنِ المَنو
نِ يَدُ النَآدِ العَنقَفيرِ

40. Moaning under calamities,
The moan of the wretched camel.

٤٠. وَضَحَت بِهِ الأَيّامُ في
ظِلِّ النَعيمِ إِلى الهَجيرِ

41. The world toyed with you and your naming,
In the mouth of the rushing torrent.

٤١. مُتَأَوِّهاً تَحتَ الخُطوبِ
تَأَوُّهَ الجَمَلِ العَقيرِ

42. And the wind plays with braids,
While it stabs into chests.

٤٢. لَعِبَت بِكَ الدُنيا وَسَع
يُكَ في فَمِ الجَدِّ العَثورِ

43. None wore wool garments,
Except he who wore the coarse.

٤٣. وَالريحُ تَلعَبُ بِالذَوا
بِلِ وَهيَ تَطعَنُ في الصُدورِ

44. With protruding cheeks, shaven beards,
And braided tresses.

٤٤. ما اِلتَذَّ لُبسَ الصوفِ إِل
لا مَن تَعَمَّمَ بِالقَتيرِ

45. Dignified due to his shyness,
While the eyelids are described with languor.

٤٥. مُتَخَدِّدُ الخَدَينِ مُغ
بَرُّ الذَوائِبِ وَالضُفورِ

46. Dignity restrained his ambitions,
And old age is more controlling of the captive.

٤٦. سامٍ بِفَضلِ حَيائِهِ
وَالطَرفُ يوصَفُ بِالفُتورِ

47. After the backs bent,
He does not refrain from the journey.

٤٧. أَسَرَ الوَقارُ طِماحَهُ
وَالقِدُّ أَملَكُ بِالأَسيرِ

48. A callow youth looking at his face,
In the cheek of the famous sword.

٤٨. مِن بَعدِ ما صَهِبَ الرَكا
ئِبَ لا يَعِفُّ عَنِ المَسيرِ

49. Strutting like a torrent,
Assaulting rivulets and rocks.

٤٩. جَذلانَ يَنظُرُ وَجهَهُ
في عارِضِ العَضبِ الشَهيرِ

50. We the sons of the world are destined,
By nights and months.

٥٠. مُتَغَطرِفاً كَالسَيلِ يَب
طُشُ بِالجَنادِلِ وَالصُخورِ

51. We entrusted ourselves and does a child live,
Without a wet nurse's breast?

٥١. إِنّا بَني الدُنيا نُعَدَّ
لُ بِاللَيالي وَالشُهورِ

52. We are the feats from sorrows,
And the progeny from seas.

٥٢. كَفَلَت بِأَنفُسِنا وَهَل
طِفلٌ يَعيشُ بِغَيرِ ظيرِ

53. And when one of noble ancestry pridefully claims,
He traces lineage to stars.

٥٣. نَحنُ الشُبولُ مِنَ الضَرا
غِمِ وَالنِطافُ مِنَ البُحورِ

54. Bliss betrayed us while its loyalty was,
The day of the pond.

٥٤. وَإِذا عَزانا ناسِبٌ
نَسَبَ الشُموسَ إِلى البُدورِ

55. A day revolved around the successor,
And he was titled the prince.

٥٥. غَدَرَ السُرورُ بِنا وَكا
نَ وَفاؤُهُ يَومَ الغَديرِ

56. So it shone therein, and the rose of passion returned,
To the water-carrier.

٥٦. يَومٌ أَطافَ بِهِ الوَصِي
يُ وَقَد تَلَقَّبَ بِالأَميرِ

57. And it took the lifetimes of sorrows,
With the length of lifetimes of bliss.

٥٧. فَتَسَلَّ فيهِ وَرُدَّ عا
رِيَةَ الغَرامِ إِلى المُعيرِ

58. So who other than your heart replaces,
His worries with drops of wine?

٥٨. وَاِبتَزَّ أَعمارَ الهُمو
مِ بِطولِ أَعمارِ السُرورِ

59. Do not be content with the little,
Of much during requests.

٥٩. فَلَغَيرُ قَلبِكَ مَن يُعَد
دِلُ هَمَّهُ نُطَفُ الخُمورِ

60. So ambitions recoil,
Like the recoiling of the injured snake.

٦٠. لا تَقنَعَن عِندَ المَطا
لِبِ بِالقَليلِ مِنَ الكَثيرِ

61. This is the time of prolonged needs,
And the short hope.

٦١. فَتَبَرُّضُ الأَطماعِ مِث
لُ تَبَرُّضِ الثَمَد الجَرورِ

62. So allow us from your comfort,
Without little or stinginess.

٦٢. هَذا أَوانُ تَطاوُلِ ال
حاجاتِ وَالأَمَلِ القَصيرِ

63. You should not be driven,
To the staff while you are in the overflowing udder.

٦٣. فَاِنفَح لَنا مِن راحَتَي
كَ بِلا القَليلِ وَلا النَزورِ

64. The impacts of your gratitude are in my mouth,
And the signs of your affection are in my conscience.

٦٤. لا تُحوَجَنَّ إِلى العِصا
بِ وَأَنتَ في الضَرعِ الدَرورِ

65. A chaste poem like,
The radiance of the blossoming meadow.

٦٥. آثارُ شُكرِكَ في فَمي
وَسِماتُ وُدِّكَ في ضَميري

66. It rejoiced in its gentle owner,
The rejoice of the red camel in the pond.

٦٦. وَقَصيدَةٍ عَذراءَ مِثلِ
لِ تَأَلُّقِ الرَوضِ النَضيرِ

67. And it is as if in its stringing,
Farazdaq or Jarir composes.

٦٧. فَرِحَت بِمالِكِ رِقِّها
فَرَحَ الخَميلَةِ بِالغَديرِ

68. And it is as if in its beauty,
It is between Khawarnaq and Sadir.

٦٨. وَكَأَنَّهُ في رَصفِها
جارُ الفَرَزدَقِ أَو جَريرِ

٦٩. وَكَأَنَّهُ في حُسنِها
بَينَ الخَوَرنَقِ وَالسَديرِ
