1. I am amazed at the days and how they bring closer
What once seemed so distant from me

2. And ever since I donned the cloak of night
It eyes me warily and creeps slowly towards me

3. And if my life is prolonged in this world for a while
I will humble the vicissitudes of time for those after me

9. But it is a soul, free as I wish it to be
Roaming even in the lion's mouth as it chews the roses

Is the rebuke of a brother whom time has cast as my foe

11. I say to you, no matter what happened in the past, it is gone
But playful teasing that pricked at the skin

12. Do not think the heart can be hurt
Until the skin is first cut by pain’s needle

13. I have shown you my true loyalty
And my conscience is intent on lasting affection

14. I am not fickle or unbound by my promises
With a heart locked against malice and bound to kindness

15. My nature is to seek glory in its high pursuits
And attain the greatest heights due to my excellence

16. I used to seek one high rank after another
But now I disdain attaining them on my own

17. To preserve my compassionate family and my zeal
For honorable lineage and lasting glory

18. Why not, when we who roam the heights
Return to well-watered oases and hills of bliss

19. We are the essence of nobility among our people
The progeny of glory, pedigree and high morals

20. I envied others for their love of you
And competed with strangers for your affection

21. The pain was bitter so I armored myself against it
With a heart made of stone at times of woe

22. I persevered until none could find fault in me
And returned like a sword into its sheath

23. My chest bursts open from ardent passions
How much anger paved the way to contentment

24. And how many mistakes led to the right path
My eyes are clear in brotherhood

25. Though enemies strike with bleary eyes
Ever since affection returned between us

26. The gloom lifted from my vision and my sight illuminated
My days regained their beauty after fading

27. As graceful as the bloom of youth or the season of roses
I was destitute, empty-handed of all riches

28. But now I have attained my wishes and more
I left the tightness in my chest for your contentment

29. Like a prisoner freed from shackles' bite
Pure sincerity and truth have enveloped me

30. Drawing me close to you as an arm embraces its limb
I saw you as my adversary over past grievances

31. When you opposed me and stood against me
But now that fondness has returned between us
