٢. ما كُنتَ إِلّا حَيَّةً بِوادِ
وَأَسَداً عَلى العَدُوِّ عادِ

Stood as my pillar after humiliation
٣. وَرُبَّ جارٍ لي مِنَ الأَعادي
أَقامَ بَعدَ ذِلَّةٍ عِمادي
4. As though in most dire straits
The neighbor of Hudhali, my father Dauad
٤. كَأَنَّهُ في الكُرَبِ الشِدادِ
جارُ الحُذاقيِّ أَبي دُوادِ
