While you, my friend, have no second
١. أَمُلتَمِساً مِنّي صَديقاً لِنَوبَةٍ
وَأَنتَ صَديقي لا أَرى لَكَ ثانِيا
2. An age has passed in which its people betrayed me
And estranged me to the point of shunning the familiars
٢. لَحا اللَهُ دَهراً خانَني فيهِ أَهلُهُ
وَأَحشَمَني حَتّى اِحتَشَمتُ الأَدانِيا
3. So I see none but a revealed foe
And I see none but a flattering friend
٣. فَلَستُ أَرى إِلّا عَدُوّاً مُكاشِفاً
وَلَستُ أَرى إِلّا صَديقاً مُداجِيا
