1. There was a day when this land was my land
In its soil my castles were erected

2. My land was once the shining sun of life
An immense planet, gloriously splendid

3. In every inch a monument of pride
Erected by an ocean of blood and ink

4. In its soil even pebbles chant in rhyme
The history of civilization’s light and jihad

5. The oceans of knowledge once satisfied all
And their call echoed: Is there one who responds?

6. Darkness roamed all corners of the world
But in her lands it was put in chains

7. The swords of truth were the honor of the brave
Watering the land with the blood of oppression

8. The light shone on my land here
Destroying the injustice of ignorance and hatred

9. My land became torn, no longer a scene
Of comrades embracing in affection

10. Each border has a dagger in its side
Severing its limbs and my heart inside

11. I became a stranger in the depths of my home
With feelings burning, without respite

12. Our bonds are severed, our wailing is now
Like that of a hireling weeping for the envious

13. Our blood flows like rivers, and we
Are drowned in oceans of injustice, helpless

14. But my faith is that our glory will wake
To rule this land like our forefathers before

15. And my dream remains to see its sunrise
Share this universe in bliss evermore

16. To give back to man all his dignity
And return to the free their greatest support

17. This land will be one body again
And light up the cosmos in splendor
