مَضَى قاسمٌ فاسْتَخْلَفَ البَثَّ والأذَى
عَلَيَّupon me فَدَاso this one (apparently intended as فَذَا) خِلٌّa close friend وذاكَand that one مُسَاعِدُa helper
عَلَيَّ فَدَا خِلٌّ وذاكَ مُسَاعِدُ
Qasim departed, leaving anguish and suffering in his stead
Qasim passed away, so grief and pain succeeded him,
Upon me—so this one is a close friend, and that one a helper.
My friend sacrificed himself for me, and he was a helper.
