أباO father of عثمانَUthman مَعْتَبَةًreproach وظَنّاًand suspicion
أبا عثمانَ مَعْتَبَةً وظَنّاً
وشافيand healing النُّصْحِcounsel يُعْدَلُis equated بالأَشَافيwith awls
وشافي النُّصْحِ يُعْدَلُ بالأَشَافي
O Abu Uthman, a reproach and a suspicion—
Abu Uthman Ma'taba and a thought
And healing counsel is equated with awls.
And the healer of advice is treated with healers
إذاif شَجَرُthe tree of المودَّةِaffection لَمْdoes not تَجُدْهُrain upon it
إذا شَجَرُ المودَّةِ لَمْ تَجُدْهُ
سَماءُthe sky of البِرِّkindness أسرعَhastens فيin الجَفَافِdrying out
سَماءُ البِرِّ أسرعَ في الجَفَافِ
If the tree of affection is not watered
If the tree of affection you do not find it
By the sky of kindness, it hastens to dry out.
The sky of righteousness is faster in drought
