I would ransom you both, bearers of two cups:
I ransom you two, bearers of two goblets,
Two moons in two boughs in two sand dunes.
Two moons on two branches in two pots,

One tender and pampered, the other slender of waist—
Smooth and gentle, with crushed pearls,
Objects of desire and a delight to the eye for onlookers.
A delight and joy for beholders,

Of wine in which Noah’s bones fell to ruin and drank their fill
From which the bones of Noah were rejuvenated and refreshed,
From it, though it endured through two lifetimes.
And which will remain throughout two lifetimes,
جانَبْتُI set aside عَقْليmy reason فيconcerning الحِسَانِthe beautiful ones فقالَso it said ليto me
لاno رَأْيَjudgment للأُذُنَيْنِfor the two ears دونَwithout العَينِthe eye
I set aside my reason concerning the beautiful ones, so it told me:
I put aside my reason in love, and it said to me:
The two ears have no judgment without the eye.
The ears have no opinion without the eyes,
قامتْshe rose مُذَكَّرَةًin masculine guise وقامand he rose مُؤَنَّثاًin feminine guise

She rose in masculine guise, and he in feminine guise;
She stood gracefully and he stood elegantly,
So with their two gazes they vied to steal glances.
Exchanging glances with their eyes,
صُبّاpour, you two عليّover me الرَّاحَthe wine إنَّindeed هِلالَناour Hilal
قَدْhas صَبَّpoured نِعْمَتَهُhis bounty علىupon الثّقَلَينِhumankind and jinn
Pour the wine over me, you two, for our Hilal
Pour upon me the wine, for our crescent
Has poured his bounty upon humankind and jinn.
Has poured its blessings upon the two worlds,
وإليَّand to me كأسَكُماyour cup, you two علىaccording to ماwhat خَيّلَتْit made one imagine

And pass me your cup, with the image it conjures:
And pass to me your cups, as my imagination pictured,
Gold dust kneaded with the water of silver.
Mixed with pure water from Lujayn,
لاmay not زالَcease مِنْbecause of بُغْضِhatred of الصِّيامِfasting مُبَغَّضاًbeing loathed
يومُthe day of الخميسِThursday إليَّto me والإِثْنَيْنِand Monday
May they ever remain loathsome, from hatred of fasting—
The days I hate fasting
Thursday and Monday, to me.
Are Thursday and Monday.
