هوhe عَارِضٌa rain cloud زَجِلٌthundering فَمَنْso whoever شاءَdesired الحَيَاthe rain
هو عَارِضٌ زَجِلٌ فَمَنْ شاءَ الحَيَا
أَرْضَىpleased him وَمَنْand whoever شَاءَdesired الصَّواعِقَthe thunderbolts أَغْضَبَاangered him
أَرْضَى وَمَنْ شَاءَ الصَّواعِقَ أَغْضَبَا
He is a thundering cloud: whoever desires rain
He is an eloquent poet, so whoever wants life
should please him, and whoever desires thunderbolts should anger him.
He pleases, and whoever wants thunderbolts he enrages
