فِضِّيَةً في الزُّجَاجِ تَأْتَلِق
Rise and give me a drink; dusk has drawn breath.
Rise and pour me a drink, for dusk has breathed
A silvery wine, gleaming in the glass.
Silvery in the glass, shining bright
كأنّناas though we والمدامُand the wine نَأْخُذُهاwe take it
كأنّنا والمدامُ نَأْخُذُها
نَشْرَبُwe drink ناراًfire وليسyet do not نَحْتَرِقُwe burn
نَشْرَبُ ناراً وليس نَحْتَرِقُ
It is as though, as we take the wine,
As if, as we drink the wine, we drink
we drink fire, yet do not burn.
Fire and do not burn
