وحَمْراءَand a red wine قبلَbefore المَزْجِthe mixing صَفْرَاءَyellow بَعْدَهُafter it
وحَمْراءَ قبلَ المَزْجِ صَفْرَاءَ بَعْدَهُ
بَدَتْit appeared بينَbetween ثَوبَيْtwo robes of نَرْجِسٍnarcissus وشَقائقِand anemones
بَدَتْ بينَ ثَوبَيْ نَرْجِسٍ وشَقائقِ
And a wine, red before mixing, yellow afterward,

appeared between two robes of narcissus and anemones.

حَكَتْit resembled وَجْنَةَthe cheek of المَعْشُوقِthe beloved صِرْفاًunmixed فَسَلّطُواso they applied
حَكَتْ وَجْنَةَ المَعْشُوقِ صِرْفاً فَسَلّطُوا
عليهاupon it مِزَاجاًa diluent فاكْتَسَتْso it clothed itself in لَوْنَthe color of عاشِقِa lover
عليها مِزَاجاً فاكْتَسَتْ لَوْنَ عاشِقِ
Unmixed, it mirrored the beloved’s cheek; then they poured
She told the story of the lover's cheek artfully, so they unleashed
a diluent upon it, and it donned a lover’s hue.
Upon her a temperament, and she took on the color of a lover
