Fire and light are mingled in the cup,

The delicacy of water and the delicacy of grapes.

The clash of mixing split its form,

    Like pearls drifting over gold,

At times; at others, like the weave of a full-length coat of mail,

    One flowing form following another,

And sometimes like lines of writing, joined together,

    In the margins of books.

This and this and that it reveals,

As though its cup were the father of wonder.
