بأَبيwith my father as ransom فَمٌa mouth شَهِدَbore witness الضَّميرُthe inner self لَهُfor it
بأَبي فَمٌ شَهِدَ الضَّميرُ لَهُ
قَبْلَbefore المَذَاقِtasting بأنّهُthat it is عَذْبُsweet
قَبْلَ المَذَاقِ بأنّهُ عَذْبُ
May my father be ransom for a mouth—my heart bore witness for it,
By whom I see, a mouth whose sweetness felt
Before tasting it, that it is sweet,
The conscience, ere the taste, confess and tell,
كَشَهادَتيlike my testimony للّهِto God خالِصَةًsincere
كَشَهادَتي للّهِ خالِصَةً
قبلَbefore العِيَانِdirect sight بأنّهُthat He is رَبُّLord
قبلَ العِيَانِ بأنّهُ رَبُّ
Like my sincere testimony to God,
As I do God from all corruption free
Before seeing Him, that He is Lord.
Confess and feel before I see or see.
