No sweetness dwells in exquisite wording
Eloquence finds no home in the elegant phrase
Until praise of you becomes one of its pillars.
Unless it comes through pillars made whole

ويظلُّ بيتُ الشعرِ قَفْرا خاليا

ما لم تكن بالمدح من سُكّانه
And the house of poetry remains desolate and empty
The house of verse stays desolate and bare
Unless, through praise, you are among its inhabitants.
Unless it is inhabited by your praise
