نُcompletion of 'branches'; no separate meaning منamong ساجداتٍthose prostrating ومنand among رُكَّعthose bowing
Is that your face, or a direction of prayer? For the branches—
Your faces, or a kiss, so the branches bow
some are prostrate, and some bowing.
Prostrating and kneeling from worshippers
كأنكas though you were آدمُAdam فيin جنةa garden
وكمand how many لكfor you منof ساجدٍone prostrating طَيِّعobedient
You are like Adam in a garden,
You're like Adam in a garden
and how many an obedient one prostrates before you!
With so many obedient prostrators
ولماand since عَصتْrefused to obey فيin السجودprostration الغصونُthe branches
فللنارِso to the fire عاقبةُthe final outcome المرجعthe return
And since the branches refused to prostrate,
And when the branches disobeyed in prostration
their final destination is the fire.
The Fire became their final destination
ومنand one who أصبحتhas become نارُthe fire وجديmy longing بهbecause of him
تُؤَجِّجهاfans it into flame فيwithin الحشاthe breast أدمعيmy tears
And you, for whom the fire of my longing has come to be
He whose morning my heart's fire burned for
fanned within my breast by my tears.
My tears in sorrow make the flames roar
