عجبتُI marveled لجرأةِat the boldness of هذاthis الغزالِthe gazelle
عجبتُ لجرأةِ هذا الغزالِ
وأمرٍand at a deed تَخطَّىhe ventured forth لهfor it واعتمدْand undertook
وأمرٍ تَخطَّى له واعتمدْ
I marveled at the boldness of this gazelle—
I marveled at the boldness of this gazelle,
And my judgment and my trust alike prove me mistaken about him.
And at a deed he ventured upon and undertook.
وأعجبْand marvel بهat him إذاwhen أتَىhe came جاثماًcrouching
وأعجبْ به إذا أتَى جاثماً
فكيفso how اطمأنّhe felt secure وأنتwhile you are الأسدthe lion
فكيف اطمأنّ وأنت الأسد
I marvel at him as he approaches, crouching low:
And how astonishing he is when he comes crouching!
How could he feel safe, when you are the lion?
So how did he feel secure when you are the lion?
