مُتلوِّنين على شواهدِ حبِّهم

مُتلوِّنين على شواهدِ حبِّهم

فالعينُ تُمطِرهم بذي ألوانِ

فالعينُ تُمطِرهم بذي ألوانِ

Changing colors at the signs of their love,

Their tombstones are tinted with the hues of their love,

For the eye showers them with multicolored rain.

As the eyes rain on them colors galore.

ولو أنه ماء لَقالوا دمعُه

ولو أنه ماء لَقالوا دمعُه

ثغرٌ وجفناه به شفتان

ثغرٌ وجفناه به شفتان

And even if he were water, they would say his tears

And if it were water, they'd have said, "This is the tears

Are a mouth, and his two eyelids two lips upon it.

Of the lips, from which the lids pour."
