O dunes of al-Zahiriyya's sand, is there a way
to your lovely evenings?

وقد صافح الأزهار وهْو عليل
And will your breeze greet me before dawn,
having shaken hands with the flowers, itself languid?

The dew trails its hem
over the summits of the heights, itself moist.

And doves on either side of you enrapture me,
whose lament sounds amid the leaves of boughs.

And those palaces gladden me, in which there is
a whiteness that sends the gaze back weary.
