يُنْبِيك كيفَ تَأَوَّدُ الأغصانُ
A figure that cleaves hearts when it bends,
Often led by him are the hearts when he bends,
showing you how the boughs sway.
He makes you notice how the branches incline.

من لحظِ مُقْلِته الضعيفِ سِنان
Like a brown lance, upon which has risen
Like the swart plant when he grazes with it,
a spearhead from his eye’s languid glance.
From the glance of his languid eye a flash.
ماnot خِلْتُI thought أنthat النارthe fire فيin وَجَناتِهhis cheeks
ما خِلْتُ أن النار في وَجَناتِه
حتىuntil بداappeared فيon عارضيهboth sides of his face دخانsmoke
حتى بدا في عارضيه دخان
I never thought there was fire in his cheeks
I thought not the fire was in his cheeks
until smoke appeared on both sides of his face.
Till the smoke on his face began to shine.
