هلالٌ يُحاكِي نصفَ حَلْقةِ عاجِ
ومُعْوَجَّand the curve of صَدْعٍa crack فيin صفاءthe clarity of زُجاجِglass
ومُعْوَجَّ صَدْعٍ في صفاء زُجاجِ
A crescent resembling half an ivory ring,
A crescent moon that mimics a half circle of ivory
And the curve of a crack in clear glass.
And a crooked crack in the clarity of glass
لقدindeed دقَّgrew slender حتىso much that أوهمmade imagine العينَthe eye أنهاthat it
لقد دقَّ حتى أوهم العينَ أنها
تُراقبُwatches عَوْجَيthe two curves of شيبةٍa gray hair وحِجاجand a brow ridge
تُراقبُ عَوْجَي شيبةٍ وحِجاج
Indeed, it grew so slender that it made the eye imagine it
It pounded until it fooled the eye that it
Was watching the two curves of a gray hair and a brow ridge.
