    لواحِظُ طَرْفِه شَرَكُ القلوبِ

    A crescent on a bough on a sand dune;

His eye's sidelong glances are a snare for hearts.

I abstain from major sins with him as best I can,

And allow myself the lesser sins.

And I sip his daisy-like lips,

    And clasp his bough-like figure.

And I behold the sun of his brow whenever

It appears amid the spheres of necklines.

So, in meeting him, I am safe from separation,

And I win a conversation without a watcher.

Just as the people in the land of Egypt were safe

Through Shahanshah from the pain of calamities.

He is the king without whose bounty

Time would not have been kind to a man of letters.
