واعَجَباand oh, what a wonder! منof جنةٍa paradise فيin ضِرامْflames
واعَجَبا من جنةٍ في ضِرامْ
وروضةٍand a garden زاهرةٍblooming فيin رُخامmarble
وروضةٍ زاهرةٍ في رُخام
Oh, the wonder of a paradise amid flames,
A wonder and marvel from a garden in wilderness
and a blooming garden amid marble!
And a meadow blossoming in stony ground
تُدْعَىit is called بحمّامٍby the name 'bathhouse' علىdespite أنهاthe fact that it
تُدْعَى بحمّامٍ على أنها
تحياcome to life بهاin it الأنفسُthe souls بعدafter الحِمامdeath
تحيا بها الأنفسُ بعد الحِمام
It is called a bathhouse, although
Called a bathhouse, though it is
souls come to life within it after death.
Where souls revive after bathing
قدindeed كَمُلتit has become perfect حُسْناin beauty فأوصافُهاso its qualities
قد كَمُلت حُسْنا فأوصافُها
يَعْجَزfalls short عنهنof them فصيحُeloquent الكلامspeech
يَعْجَز عنهن فصيحُ الكلام
It has attained perfection in beauty, so its qualities
Perfect in beauty, defying description
are beyond the reach of eloquent speech.

فيهاin it نجومٌstars فيin نهارٍdaylight بَدتْappeared
فيها نجومٌ في نهارٍ بَدتْ
بينamong شموسٍsuns أشرقتْshone فيin ظلامdarkness
بين شموسٍ أشرقتْ في ظلام
