ياO دارُdwelling ماذاwhat فيكin you منof مُلَحٍdelights
يا دارُ ماذا فيك من مُلَحٍ
دلتْpointed علىto شَرَفٍnobility منof الهِمَمambitions
دلتْ على شَرَفٍ من الهِمَم
O dwelling, what delights you hold,
O abode, what kindness is in you
That bespeak noble ambitions!
That indicates nobility and ambition
لكنْyet لمنfor him whose تَنْميكraises you همتُهhis ambition فيin الفضلِmerit
لكنْ لمن تَنْميك همتُه في الفضلِ
قَدْرٌstature جَلَّwas exalted عنabove إرمIram
قَدْرٌ جَلَّ عن إرم
Yet he whose ambition raises you has, in merit,
Yet for whom does your ambition grow in virtue
A stature far surpassing Iram.
Whose worth transcends pillars
كمhow much شادhe built فيin العلياءِthe heights منof شرفٍhonor
كم شاد في العلياءِ من شرفٍ
يزدادincreases تجديداin renewal علىdespite القِدَمage
يزداد تجديدا على القِدَم
How much honor he has built on high,
How much honor was erected in the heights
Growing ever more renewed despite its age!
That is renewed over oldness
فرِواقُهso its portico بالحمدِwith praise مرتِفعelevated
فرِواقُه بالحمدِ مرتِفع
وأساسُهand its foundation بالجودwith bounty والكرمand generosity
وأساسُه بالجود والكرم
So its portico is raised with praise,
Its corridors lofty with praise
And its foundation rests on bounty and generosity.
Its foundation in generosity and benevolence
للقائدِfor the commander المولىthe lord الأَجلِّthe most august بهin it
للقائدِ المولى الأَجلِّ به
ذِكرُremembrance يوَقِّيهshields him منfrom العَدَمoblivion
ذِكرُ يوَقِّيه من العَدَم
For the commander, the most august lord, in it lies
For the magnificent commander
A remembrance that shields him from oblivion.
Whose mention protects him from oblivion
لاmay ... not زالcease طيبُsweetness ثنائِهhis praise أبداforever
لا زال طيبُ ثنائِه أبدا
فيin الدهرِtime مفروضاobligatory علىupon الأُممthe nations
في الدهرِ مفروضا على الأُمم
May the sweetness of his praise forever remain
The goodness of his praise remains forever
Throughout time, incumbent upon the nations.
Imposed upon nations through time
فيin ظلِّthe shade of شاهِنْشاهَShahanshah (king of kings) مرتِفعٌexalted
في ظلِّ شاهِنْشاهَ مرتِفعٌ
عنabove نائباتthe calamities of الدهرtime فيin حَرَمa sanctuary
عن نائبات الدهر في حَرَم
In the Shahanshah's shade, he stands exalted,
In the shadow of the Shah of Shahs it rises
Above the calamities of time, within a sanctuary.
Above the vicissitudes of time in sanctity
ينهىhe forbids ويأمرand commands كلَّevery حادثةٍevent
ينهى ويأمر كلَّ حادثةٍ
فتطيعso it obeys وهْيwhile it is لهfor him منamong الخدمthe servants
فتطيع وهْي له من الخدم
He forbids and commands every event,
He commands and orders every event
So it obeys, being among his servants.
That obeys him as a servant
