فَإِذ فاتَ الَّذي فاتَ

فَإِذ فاتَ الَّذي فاتَ

فَكونوا مِن ذَوي الظَرفِ

فَكونوا مِن ذَوي الظَرفِ

So, since what has passed is past,

When what's past is past,

Be, then, among people of wit.

Be graceful and deft,

وَمُرّوا نَقصِفُ اليَومَ

وَمُرّوا نَقصِفُ اليَومَ

فَإِنّي بائِعٌ خُفّي

فَإِنّي بائِعٌ خُفّي

And come by—we shall revel today,

Pass lightly today's loss,

For I am selling my leather boot.

For I'm secretly blessed.
