رَأَيتُ أَبا عِمرانَ يَبذُلُ عِرضَهُ

رَأَيتُ أَبا عِمرانَ يَبذُلُ عِرضَهُ

وَخُبزُ أَبي عِمرانَ في أَحرَزِ الحِرزِ

وَخُبزُ أَبي عِمرانَ في أَحرَزِ الحِرزِ

I saw Abu Imran squandering his honor,

I saw Abu Imran sacrifice his honor

while Abu Imran's bread is kept under the tightest protection.

While the bread of Abu Imran is kept safe

يَحِنُّ إِلى جاراتِهِ بَعدَ شِبعِهِ

يَحِنُّ إِلى جاراتِهِ بَعدَ شِبعِهِ

وَجاراتُهُ غَرثى تَحِنُّ إِلى الخُبزِ

وَجاراتُهُ غَرثى تَحِنُّ إِلى الخُبزِ

He longs for his female neighbors after eating his fill,

He yearns for his neighbors after being sated

while his female neighbors, hungry, long for bread.

And his starving neighbors yearn for bread
