أَرِقتُ لِبَرقِ آخَرَ اللَيلِ مُنصِبِ
خَفِيٍّfaint كَبَطنِlike the belly of الحَيَّةِthe snake المُتَقَلِّبِtwisting
خَفِيٍّ كَبَطنِ الحَيَّةِ المُتَقَلِّبِ
I lay sleepless at a wearying flash of lightning at night's end,
I was kept awake by lightning at the end of night
Faint, like the twisting belly of a snake.
Hidden like the belly of a writhing snake
