    هُما أُحدوثَةٌ في الخافِقَينِ

    I have seen two judges among the enormities;

    they are the talk of East and West.

    They divided blindness between them in equal halves,

    just as they divided jurisdiction over the two sides.

    And it seems to you, when either of them shakes his head

    to look into inheritances and debt,

    as though you had set a wine jar upon him,

    and opened its tap through a single eye.

    They are the age’s omen of Yahya’s doom,

    since he began dispensing justice with two one-eyed men.
