لَو لَم تَكُن لَكَ آباءٌ تَبوءُ بِهِم

لَو لَم تَكُن لَكَ آباءٌ تَبوءُ بِهِم

إِلّا بِنَفسِكَ نِلتَ النَجمَ مِن كَثَبِ

إِلّا بِنَفسِكَ نِلتَ النَجمَ مِن كَثَبِ

Had you no forefathers from whom to draw honor,

Even if you had no fathers of high renown

By yourself alone you would reach the star, close at hand.

By your own merits you would win the stars of heaven
