مَضى خَلَفٌ وَاللُؤمُ قَد أَمَّ نَعشَهُ

مَضى خَلَفٌ وَاللُؤمُ قَد أَمَّ نَعشَهُ

إِلى القَبرِ فيهِ ما أَقامَ مُقيمُ

إِلى القَبرِ فيهِ ما أَقامَ مُقيمُ

Khalaf has passed away, and baseness has led his bier

To the grave, there to remain as long as any dweller remains.

حَمِدناكَ إِذ أَودَيتَ بِاللُؤمِ مَيِّتاً

حَمِدناكَ إِذ أَودَيتَ بِاللُؤمِ مَيِّتاً

وَفِعلُكَ أَيّامَ الحَياةَ ذَميمُ

وَفِعلُكَ أَيّامَ الحَياةَ ذَميمُ

We praised you when, in death, you did away with baseness,

Though your conduct in the days of life was blameworthy.
