مَتىwhenever تُرِدِyou desire الشِفاءَthe cure لِكُلِّfor every غَيطٍlow-lying field (likely intended: vexation)
مَتى تُرِدِ الشِفاءَ لِكُلِّ غَيطٍ
تَكُنyou will be مِمّاfrom what يَغيظُكَangers you فيin اِزدِيادِincrease
تَكُن مِمّا يَغيظُكَ في اِزدِيادِ
Whenever you seek companions for each provocation,
Whenever you seek a cure for every vexation,
all that vexes you will only increase.
you will find ever more that angers you.
إِذاif ماemphatic particle المَرءُa person لَمnot يولَدbe born لَبيباًwise
إِذا ما المَرءُ لَم يولَد لَبيباً
فَلَيسَthen is not اللُبُّwisdom عَنfrom قِدَمِantiquity الوِلادِbirth
فَلَيسَ اللُبُّ عَن قِدَمِ الوِلادِ
If a man is not born discerning,
If a person is not born wise,
wisdom does not come merely from having been born long ago.

إِذاif لَمnot تَتَّسِعis broad أَخلاقُcharacter قَومٍa people
إِذا لَم تَتَّسِع أَخلاقُ قَومٍ
تَضيقُgrow narrow بِهِمfor them فَسيحاتُspacious expanses البِلادِthe lands
تَضيقُ بِهِم فَسيحاتُ البِلادِ
When a people’s character has no breadth,
If a people's character lacks breadth,
the broad expanses of the lands close in around them.
spacious lands grow cramped for them.
