وانِ لا في الجُلوسِ عِندَ الكَعابِ
Life lies only in drinking with brothers,
Life's pleasure lies in intimate companions,
not in sitting beside a full-breasted maiden;
Not in squatting with the heavy-drinking crew.

On parting days, bright clouds themselves would weep

If you have forsaken the pleasure of living,

Lest punishment should come on the Day dire.

So let me be - to what most joy I hold,
and thrust me into the face of the Day of Reckoning.
And on Judgement Day cast me in that molten gold.
