وَقالوا أَتَرجو الفَضلَ وَالبَحرُ دونَهُ

وَقالوا أَتَرجو الفَضلَ وَالبَحرُ دونَهُ

فَقُلتُ نَوالُ الفَضلِ يُحسِنُ يَسبَحُ

فَقُلتُ نَوالُ الفَضلِ يُحسِنُ يَسبَحُ

And they said, “Do you hope for al-Fadl, with the sea between you and him?”

And they said, do you hope for grace while the sea lies before you

So I said, “Al-Fadl’s bounty knows how to swim.”

So I said, to attain grace is to swim well
