وَإِنَّكَand indeed you إِنif غِبتَyou are absent عَنّيfrom me وَلَمand do not
أَجِدI find ليfor me سِوىexcept ذِكرِremembrance قَلبٍa heart وَفَمand a mouth
And indeed, if you are absent from me and I do not
And if you are absent from me and I find
Find anything for myself but remembrance in heart and mouth,
No solace but memories of a heart and mouth
لِيَfor me اللَهُGod ثُمَّthen النَبِيُّthe Prophet الكَريمُthe noble
وَأَكرَمُand the noblest صِهرٍa son-in-law لَهُto him وَاِبنِand a son of عَمa paternal uncle
I have God, then the noble Prophet,
God is for me, then the noble Prophet
And his noblest son-in-law and paternal cousin,
And the most generous son-in-law and cousin of his
قَسيمُdivider الجَحيمِHell فَهَذاso this one لَهُfor him
وَهَذاand this one لَهاfor it بِاِعتِدالِwith fairness in القِسَمthe shares
The divider of Hell: this one is for him,
Who will share out Hell, so this is for him
And this one for it, with the shares fairly apportioned;
And this is for her in fairness of division
وَساقيand the giver of drink الوُفودِthe delegations بِيَومِon the day of الوُرودِarrival
عَلىat كَوثَرٍKawthar ماؤُهُits water قَدindeed شَبِمhas grown cold
And the giver of drink to the delegations on the day of arrival
The pourer of delegations on the day of arrival
At Kawthar, whose water has indeed grown cold.
At Kauthar whose water has been made tasty
يَذودُhe drives away عَنِfrom الحَوضِthe Pool أَعداءَهُhis enemies
فَكَمso how many مِنof لَعينٍan accursed one طَريدٍan outcast وَكَمand how many
He drives his enemies away from the Pool—
He defends his basin from its enemies
So many an accursed outcast—and how many!
So how many accursed and repelled ones, and how many
فَمِنso among ناكِثينَoath-breakers وَمِنand among قاسِطينَoppressors
وَمِنand among مارِقينَrenegades وَمِنand among مُجتَرِمa wrongdoer
So some are oath-breakers, and some oppressors,
Of breakers of oaths, and transgressors,
And some renegades, and some guilty of crime.
And rebels, and criminals
إِذاwhen قالَsays أَحمَدُAhmad صَحبيmy companions يُقاit is said (first part)
لُ(completes 'it is said') لَمdid not تَدرِyou know ماwhat أَحدَثواthey brought about فيamong الأُمَمthe nations
When Ahmad says, 'My companions!' he is told:
When Ahmad says "My companions, it is said
'You did not know what they brought about among the nations.'
You do not know what they did to the communities"
فَيَدعوso he prays بِبُعدٍfor remoteness وَسُحقٍand banishment لَهُمfor them
وَيُسحَبُand he is dragged فيهِمamong them لِذاتِto that which has الضَرَمblazing flame
So he prays for them to be cast far away and banished,
So he prays for remoteness and abasement for them
And among them one is dragged to the blazing Fire.
And they are dragged along, with rending of garments
