تَلاشىfaded away أَهلُpeople of قُمٍّQum فَاِضمَحَلّواand so they dwindled away
تَلاشى أَهلُ قُمٍّ فَاِضمَحَلّوا
تَحُلُّdescend المُخزِياتُdisgraces بِحَيثُwherever حَلّواthey settled
تَحُلُّ المُخزِياتُ بِحَيثُ حَلّوا
The people of Qum faded away and came to nothing.
The people of Qum have vanished and faded away
Disgraces descend wherever they settle.
Humiliations occur wherever they lodged
وَكانواand they had شَيَّدواbuilt فيin الفَقرِpoverty مَجداًglory
وَكانوا شَيَّدوا في الفَقرِ مَجداً
فَلَمّاbut when جاءَتِcame الأَموالُwealth مَلّواthey grew weary
فَلَمّا جاءَتِ الأَموالُ مَلّوا
And they had built glory in poverty,
They erected glory amid poverty
but when wealth came, they grew weary.
When riches came, they dissolved
