وَإِنَّand indeed لَهُfor him لَطَبّاخاًsurely a cook وَخُبزاًand bread
وَأَنواعَand varieties of الفَواكِهِthe fruits وَالشَرابِand the drink
And indeed he has a cook and bread,
He has cooks and bread,
And varieties of fruit and drink.
All kinds of fruit and drink,
وَلَكِنand yet دونَهُbefore him حَبسٌimprisonment وَضَربٌand beating
وَأَبوابٌand doors تُطابَقُare shut one upon another دونَbefore بابِa door
Yet before him lie imprisonment and blows,
But around him are prisons and beatings,
And doors shut tight, one before another.
Doors bolted shut but one,
يَذودونَthey drive away الذُبابَthe flies يَمُرُّit passes عَنهُby him
كَأَمثالِlike the likes of المَلائِكَةِthe angels الغِضابِthe wrathful
They drive away the flies that pass by him,
They keep the flies away and let him be,
Like wrathful angels.
Like angels in their wrath.
