لَمdid not آتِcome مُطَّلِباًMuttalib إِلّاexcept بِمُطَّلَبِwith a request
وَهِمَّةٍand an ambition بَلَغَتreached بيwith me غايَةَthe utmost height الرُتَبِthe ranks
I came to Muttalib only with a request,
I did not translate the poem as you requested. I have no information to provide a translation. Please provide the Arabic poem again if you would like me to attempt a translation.
And an ambition that brought me to the highest ranks.
أَفرَدتُهُI singled him out بِرَجاءٍwith hope أَنlest تُشارِكُهُjoin him
فِيَّin my cause الوَسائِلُthe intermediaries أَوor أَلقاهُI meet him فيin الكُتُبِthe letters
I made him my sole hope, lest he be joined
In my cause by intermediaries, or I meet him through letters.
رَحَلتُI saddled عيسيmy pale camels إِلىtoward البَيتِthe House الحَرامِthe Sacred عَلىdespite
ماwhatever كانَthere was مِنof وَصَبٍillness فيهاin them وَمِنand of نَصَبِexhaustion
I saddled my pale camels for the Sacred House, despite
The sickness and exhaustion they bore.
أَلقىI confront بِهاwith them وَبِوَجهيand with my face كُلَّevery هاجِرَةٍmidday heat
تَكادُalmost تَقدَحُstrikes sparks بَينَbetween الجِلدِthe skin وَالعَصَبِand the sinews
With them and with my face, I confronted every midday blaze,
Which nearly struck sparks between skin and sinew.
حَتّىuntil إِذاwhen ماan emphatic particle قَضَتthey completed نُسكيmy rites ثَنَيتُI turned لَهاfor them
عِطفَthe bend الزِمامِthe rein فَأَمَّتso they headed toward سَيِّدَthe lord العَرَبِthe Arabs
Until, when they had completed my rites, I turned for them
The bend of the rein, and they made for the lord of the Arabs.
فَأَمَّمَتكَso they headed toward you وَقَدand already ذابَتhad melted مَفاصِلُهاtheir joints
مِنfrom طولِthe length ماan emphatic particle تَعَبٍtoil لاقَتthey endured وَمِنand from نَقَبِfootpad abrasion
So they made for you, their joints already melted away,
From the long toil they had endured and the wear of their footpads.
إِنّيindeed I اِستَجَرتُI sought refuge بِاِستارَينِin two veils مُستَلِماًtouching
رُكنَينِtwo pillars مُطَّلِباًMuttalib وَالبَيتَand the House ذاpossessing الحُجُبِthe veils
Indeed, I sought refuge beneath two veils, touching
Two pillars: Muttalib and the House with its veils.
فَذاكَso that one لِلآجِلِfor the hereafter المَأمولِhoped-for أَذخُرُهُI store it up
وَأَنتَand you لِلعاجِلِfor the present المَرجُوِّhoped-for وَالطَلَبِand the request
That one, then, I store up for the hoped-for hereafter,
And you are for present hopes and requests.
هَذاthis ثَنائيmy praise وَهَذيand this مِصرُEgypt سانِحَةٌready at hand
وَأَنتَand you أَنتَyou وَقَدand indeed نادَيتُI called out مِنfrom كَثَبِclose by
This is my praise, and here is Egypt, ready at hand;
And you are you, and I have called out from close by.
